Active Transportation Plan

What is an Active Transportation?
Active transportation is any form of transportation that involves physical activity, like walking, biking, or using a scooter or wheelchair instead of using a motorized vehicle.

Why are Active Transportation Plans necessary?
Active transportation plans  promote and support walking, biking, and other forms of human-powered transportation in communities. They aim to create safe, convenient, and accessible infrastructure, such as bike lanes and sidewalks, to encourage people to choose active modes of transportation over driving. These plans help improve public health, reduce traffic congestion, and decrease air pollution while promoting sustainable and livable communities.

Complete Streets Policies

What is Complete Streets Policy?
A Complete Streets Policy is a guideline that ensures when possible streets are designed to accommodate all types of transportation users, including pedestrians, cyclists, public transit users, and drivers of all ages and abilities. It means streets are designed to be safe, accessible, and convenient for everyone, regardless of how they choose to travel. Complete Streets Policies often require features like sidewalks, bike lanes, crosswalks, and accessible transit stops to be included in street design and planning.
